The sculpture entitled Confined by Time was inspired by the effect time has on life. My intent was to visually communicate how we are all made up of time and cannot escape it, we are contained by time. A clock is draped on top of a figural bust in such a way that the figure appears to be engulfed by it.
The second sculpture entitled Time Through Different Eyes ties into the same idea as the first sculpture and is inspired by the thought of how we are time. My intent with this sculpture was to visually communicate this thought. I focused on the diverse ways we as humans log time. I did this by making the main figure resemble a grandfather clock and creating ten symbols that represent time such as stopwatches, hourglasses, watches, and the 60-minute timers. I want to keep exploring the narrative of time.

Through this 24-hour-long montage of film clips that depict clocks, Marclay invites an audience to come and watch his film. In this piece, Marclay asks the viewer to consider the implications of time. It is constantly present and when watching the film, it’s near impossible to ignore its significance.
Untitled (Perfect Lovers) Felix Gonzalez-Torres https://www.huffpost.com/entry/time-art_n_4519734 |
This work of art is a representation of how we are made up of time itself. The two clocks next to one another is a representation of the artist and their partner. His partner's clock stops while he keeps going, symbolizing that his partner had passed. The idea that we are time is evident in this piece.
